Weekend Snapshot - August 17

Hey Everyone,

Well here we are, 17 days in and so far so good! We are continuing to figure out what this new chapter looks like here, but the best parts have been the amazing love and support that you have shown me, and the incredible team that I get to work with. Thank you for making Northgate such an incredible place to serve and lead!

One schedule note that I wanted to make sure that you see is the return of our Centered Service (after a one month hiatus) in September. Centered is a service that we started a while back to give us the opportunity to just slow down, relax, breathe deeply, and be in the presence of God. In discussing how to approach Centered going forward a friend said “the ministry that happened on those evenings was evident, solid and powerful. Although unable to attend every month, I did see God move each time I was there.” I could not agree more! Every time I was there I thought two things: 1. God is at work. 2. I wish that more people could be a part of what is going on here!

So go ahead and save the date for Wednesday, September 4th at 6:00. You will be glad that you did!

Need To Knows

This Weekend:

[CANCELLED] Group Leader Workshop — Unfortunately, we had to cancel the Group Life Workshop that we had planned for this Sunday. I know many of you were looking forward to it, and we are working on finding a new date in the coming months. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more information.
Weekend Worship Services — Saturday, 6:00pm, Sunday, 9:30am & 11:00am — This weekend we will be kicking off our three-week Faith & Culture series, sharing in communion together, and Superintendent Pam Braman will be here for an official installation service for my role as Lead Pastor.
Sunday Morning Prayer Group — Sunday, 9:30am — Meeting Room 4 — Join this faithful group that prays together for our weekend services and much more!
Liturgical Worship — Sunday, 10:00am — Arbor House (350 Bank Street) — Lead by Pastor Chris Landon they will be continuing their series from the book of Judges.
Middle School & High School Base — Sunday, 11:00am — Meeting Room 2/3 — Pastor D.L. leads this group for ascending 6th-12th graders with time for hanging out, teaching, and prayer. (New 5th graders are able to join this group on kickoff weekend, September 8th.)

The Week Ahead:

Salvation Army School Supply Drive — Drop-off Deadline is August 25th in the box in the lobby. Check the table in the lobby for a list of needed supplies. We love having the opportunity to generously support our ministry partner The Salvation Army of Genesee County and make sure that every child in Genesee County has the necessary school supplies for this fall, regardless of income.
Celebrate Recovery — Thursday, 7:00pm — This group meets weekly at our Northgate Campus to work through hurts, habits, and hang-ups. New people are always welcome!
Spanish Class — Wednesday, 12:00pm — Rosalina leads a Spanish class in the Guest Lounge on Wednesdays for anyone interested in improving their Spanish language skills. All levels of knowledge are welcome, including beginners! Weather permitting several group members also visit the prayer walk after class. They would love to have you join them!

Coming Up:

Northgate 101 — Sunday, September 1, 9:30am-12:00pm — Are you interested in learning more about Northgate and possibly becoming a member? This class will cover those topics! Email office@northgatefmc.com to reserve your spot.
Fall Kickoff — Saturday, September 7 & Sunday, September 8 — Our official fall kickoff weekend is just four weeks away!
Primetimers — Thursday, September 12, 12:00pm — Primetimers is a group of 55+ year olds who get together once a month for lunch and learning. Save the date and keep an eye out for more information.
Man Camp — Friday, September 13 - Saturday, September 14 - It’s our third annual Man Camp in Northgate’s big backyard. Registration will be required and is available here
Justice Summit — Thursday, September 19 - Saturday, September 21 — Join me for the Free Methodist Justice Network Summit at Pearce Memorial FMC in North Chili. Learn more here. Registration is available here.
