P.S. – If you have a “This Changes Everything” shirt – this is a great weekend to wear it!

9. “A Good Enough Lent” Believe it or not, Lent is just around the corner. Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent marks the start of the 40-day Lenten time, and Ash Wednesday this year is February 14. We’d like to invite our church to participate in a Lenten devotional by Kate Bowler called “A Good Enough Lent.” It’s a free resource that you can download at https://katebowler.com/lent/. This devotional is based on Kate’s book, Good Enough: 40 Devotionals For a Life of Imperfection. You can use the free resource with/without the book. If you’d like a copy of the book but resources might be an issue, we’ll have copies of it available here at the church.

10. Northgate Intergenerational Single Women’s Gathering On March 3, single women ages 20+, are invited to attend a meeting to plan for this fun new adventure.  During the meeting, we will discuss activities we can do together to share our faith, to fellowship and to have fun!  We will meet at 12:15 in Room #2/3.  There will be a light lunch provided!  Come and join in!  If you have any questions, please contact Angelique at angelique@northgatefmc.com.

You Can Count on This – Hebrews 3:1 – Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. (Read Hebrews 3:1-19)

Pause. What are you thinking about right now? Or what were you thinking about just a few moments ago? Now, bring Jesus in on that. Are you worried about something? Take a moment and talk to Jesus about it. Are you happy about something? Thank Jesus for that. Are you struggling with something… fix your thoughts on Jesus. Think about how much He loves you, what He has done for you, what He has promised you, the fact that through the Holy Spirit He is with you right now wherever you are. In your living room, at your desk, in the waiting room, at your kitchen table… wherever you are He is too. He is our “apostle”, the One sent by God to us with good news. He is our “High Priest”, the One who intercedes for us with God and represents us to Him. Through Jesus we have access to the God who created all things, sustains all things, holds all things in His hands. So let your thoughts regularly return to Jesus, think about Him often, talk to Him regularly and trust Him always. Fix your thoughts on Him.

When you’re not sure what you can count on in the world around you, know this: You can count on God keeping his word.  So read what God has to say in scripture!  And count on it.
