10. Gather to Pray – Here are some opportunities to pray together at Northgate…
***********************************************************************************************
You Can Count on This – Hebrews 8:10b – I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Read Hebrews 8:1-13)
These verses from Hebrews 8 are taken from Jeremiah 31:33-34. God inspired Jeremiah to write them at the time that the Babylonians were destroying Jerusalem and deporting Jewish people to Babylon. The reason for the deportation and exile was that Israel had so badly disobeyed God’s commandments and violated the covenant He had made with them, that God decided they needed to be disciplined. But as He was disciplining them, He also gave them a promise.
God promised to establish a new covenant with us and in this new covenant He would bring about an inner transformation such that from their hearts and minds those who belong to Him would keep His commandments and laws. God established this new covenant through the death and resurrection of Jesus to pay for our sins. And He fulfilled His promise by sending His Holy Spirit to everyone who puts their faith and trust in Jesus, so that through the power of the Holy Spirit we are made able to keep God’s commandments. In Christ we are made new: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ they are a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2 Corinthians 5:17) Praise God!
When you’re not sure what you can count on in the world around you, know this: You can count on God keeping his word. So read what God has to say in scripture! And count on it.
