In the summer of 2003 a group of about 30 Northgate people headed to Tijuana, Mexico for two weeks, serving as short-term missionaries through the Free Methodist VISA program. Pastor Darlene Mieney organized this experience, which included about 20 teens from our youth program and 10 adults.
The purpose of the mission was to build a second story over a Free Methodist church in Tijuana, which would allow the pastor and his family to have living space that they were without. This would allow the church to expand and reach more individuals for Christ. We also cleaned and spruced up two churches, built a Sunday School classroom and made connections with some wonderful people, followers of Jesus in Tijuana.
In July 2016, a group of seven individuals set out from Northgate FMC to serve in Budapest and Györ, Hungary. The purpose of the trip was to come along side and support our Free Methodist missionaries in these cities. We specifically focused on work with the Gerry McNamara, his wife Kathi and his wonderful family in Györ. We spent a week at a Government run home for children; where we put on a Vacation bible school. It was a wonderful experience in which we shared the love of God with the children and staff of the home.
This group consister of Pastor Vern Saile, Rosalina Vanegas, Kelly and Ava Flores, Jake Housenecht, Helen Morelli and Julie Worthington. We made some great connections in Hungary and hope to further this relationship with more trips on the future.
You can help by praying for the missionariesI. Hungary: Gerry and Kathi McNamara and family, and Larry and Katie Winkles. You can also pray for a Hungarian Missionary with the FMC. Her name is Ildikó Kobér and she has been doing great things with the Budapest church and the Set Free movement. We are also asking that you pray about the possibility of a future missions trip for our church. God bless.
