GREATER THINGS

6/5/16 — 6/26/16
Northgate’s mission is to bring people to Jesus Christ and build them up in that relationship.
Our personal mission is to live lives that point people to Jesus Christ and who he really is, to show the hope that he gives our lives, so that they will realize that there is something that we have, that they are lacking if they don’t have the same relationship with Jesus. That, is what we are here to do. That is who we are. That is the mission.

WHAT I DON’T LIKE ABOUT JESUS

3/5/16 — 3/31/16
Jesus is a polarizing figure. Much of what he said is confusing; you can find him demanding; he’s frequently unpredictable and he can’t be controlled. Why should we listen to him?

LIKE A GOOD NEIGHBOR

2/7/16 — 2/28/16
We’ve all heard the advertising jingle “Like a Good Neighbor…” but what is God’s take on being a good neighbor? In a world that is becoming increasingly isolated from the people right next door, being a good neighbor may be more important than ever. We know that we are commanded to “love your neighbor as yourself” but what else should we be doing? What does the Bible say about who our neighbor really is, how we can pray and care for them, and how we can help our neighbor know Jesus?

How about…. “God loves you and this is what real love looks like; your failings have all been forgiven; there are some treacherous people in the world – watch out for them; and your life is very valuable – so much so that you will live forever, somewhere – and you can be sure that it will be with God, in heaven.” Join us as we talk about these things in January.

What would it mean to not dwell on the past, but to go boldly towards the new thing that God wants to do in your life? Join us for this service of renewal and recommittal. Our prayer for each one of you is that you will truly be the light of the world wherever God has placed you!

RESET

11/28/15 — 12/24/15
At Christmas-time we are exposed to many of the same things year after year: increased advertising, pressure to buy, lights, parties, noise, busy-ness, and so much more. It’s easy to lose focus on why we even celebrate Christmas. We can get sidetracked during the season of “joy” and instead end up experiencing a season of debt, disappointment, and depression!

We need a different way to experience Christmas. We need a “Reset” this Christmas season. When your computer or your phone isn’t working sometimes the best thing you can do is to reset it.

This Advent, we are going to see how we can reset ourselves, so that throughout the Christmas Season we can experience more joy. We are going to reset our perspective, reset our relationships, reset our attitudes, and reset the way we love. On Christmas Eve we will see how God reset the entire world – in order to restore what was broken to its proper functioning.

That’s what it means to “Reset.”

MARGINS

11/01/15 — 11/22/15
Dictionary.com describes “margin” as the “amount allowed or available beyond what is actually necessary.” In other words, a margin is room beyond what’s required. In life, when we live within the margins we are accomplishing what is necessary, but being careful not to expend more than what we have to give. That shows up in the way we spend our time and money, or in the attention we give to our personal relationships and relationship with God.

When there is no margin in our lives it means that we are existing on the edge of our available energy or resources. It means we are using up all we have – so that there is no margin left over, no “safe space” or “extra room”. It means we are using up all of our financial resources, or the time we have to give. It means our relationships with others or God are strained to the point that the potential for breakdown is very real.

In this series we want to talk about how to live so that we have more margin – so we are not living at the edge. The more margin we have, the more relaxed we will feel, the more content we will be, and the more effective we will be.

God has given us clear guidelines on how to live with more margin. We hope you’ll join us for this series as we talk about those guidelines and seek to live healthier lives with more margin.

METAMORPHOSIS

1/31/15 — 3/1/15
The word refers to a change that takes place. Not just a “tweaking” of something, a little, inconsequential change, but rather a BIG, LIFE-ALTERING CHANGE! It’s the kind of change we can’t make happen by ourselves. It’s a change that happens to us through another person – Jesus. The fact that this change can happen is good news because it’s a change that makes everything different, and better.
How does this change happen?
What do we have to do?
What happens when we do it?
Why should we care about experiencing it?
Will it be worth it?
These are the kinds of things we’ll be talking about in this series. Think about joining us as we talk about “Metamorphosis!”
